Renowned Bhojpuri writer Chandrashekhar dead
Varanasi, Apr 18 (UNI) Famous Bhojpuri writer Chandrashekhar passed away after a prolonged illness here last night. He was 82.
The last rites of octogenarian writer were performed at Harishchandra ghat here today.
He is survived by four sons and as many daughters.
Born on July 30, 1930 at village Tilti in Mirzapur, Chandrashekhar came to Varanasi after completing his primary education.
In Varanasi, he got the title of 'Sahitya Ratan.' Later, he worked as Literary editor in Dainik Sanmarg and was also associated with 'Nagri Pracharini Sabha' for a long time.
Chandrashekhar was a known Bhojpuri writer, who gained much fame and acceptance from his writings like 'Bheeshm Baba aur Veer Ras,' 'Parityag,' and 'Draupadi.' Few years back, the state government had honoured Chandrashekhar with 'Avanti Bai award' for his valuable contribution in the Bhojpuri literature.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Mayawati, Governor T V Rajeswar have expressed profound grief on the writer's demise.
