New Delhi, Apr 18: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today declared that India is committed to economic reforms and liberalisation, and invited western nations to invest in the country. ''Globalisation is both a challenge and an opportunity and India will like to be an active participant in this process.
For India, the best is yet to come,'' Dr Singh said while speaking to a group of delegates at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) conference. The three-day long first IISS-CITI India Global Forum 2008 began here today. ''India has followed a successful strategy of reintegrating into the world economy. The policy of liberalisation we started in 1991 has moved forward despite changes in government,'' the Prime Minister said.
The country was more globally integrated and confident about its future, he said., '' We are creating an environment of freedom in which the creativity and enterprise of our people can find its full and free expression,'' Dr Singh added.
