HC restrains UP Cabinet Minister from being UPBC member
Allahabad, Apr 18 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court today restrained Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Nakul Dubey and State Warehousing Corporation Chairperson Gopal Narayan Mishra from being the member of UP Bar Council (UPBC).
The HC also directed government to cancel the byelection of UPBC, scheduled to be held tomorrow.
Justices Sudhir Agarwal and A Kumar passed the order on a writ petition filed by UPBC member Pravin Kumar Singh.
The petitioner had filed the petition, seeking mandamus and directing respondents to hold UPBC poll in accordance with law as laid under the Bar Council of India rules.
Mr Singh had pointed out that Mr Dubey and Dr Mishra cannot continue as the member of UPBC, as they were holding office of profit.
The court also ordered the parties concerned to file their reply in this regard.
