Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) The Congress is gearing up for the by-elections to the four Lok Sabha and 18 assembly constituencies in Andhra Pradesh to be held on May 29, with State Party.
Committee(APCC) President D Srinivas holding a two-day consultation with various leaders and reviewing the situation from today.
The party sources said Mr Srinivas also consulted ministers belonging to the districts and District Congress Presidents, while reviewing the situation.
He also held consultations with the leaders of Vikarabad constituency of Ranga Reddy district, Sidepet, Ramayampet and Dommada constituencies in Medak district at Gandhi Bhavan. Several leaders, including District Congress Presidents of Medak and Ranga Reddy districts, attended the meeting.
The Congess would start selection of candidates after consulting the leaders of the constituencies before facilitating the process.
The by-election was necessitated in 16 assembly constituencies and four Lok Sabha seats, following the resignation of the legislators and MPs of the Telangana Rastra Samithi(TRS), protesting against the Congress party's attitude on separate Telangana.
The other two assembly seats fell vacant after the death of Telugu Desam Party(TDP) MLA T Jayaprakash, representing Terlam Constituency in Vizianagaram, and senior Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy from Khairatabad Assembly segment.
