BJP to meet Bengal Governor on April 21
Kolkata, Apr 18 (UNI) The West Bengal BJP would meet Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi on April 21 to apprise him of the ongoing hooliganism allegedly perpetrated by the CPI(M) in the run-up to the coming Panchayat elections.
'' The CPI(M) has let loose a reign of terror in Nandigram, Keshpur, Garbeta and Salbani blocks in West Midnapore to keep the Opposition away from contesting the coming Panchayat elections and police are acting as mute spectators, '' BJP state secretary Rahul Sinha told newspersons here today.
He said, '' We have already sent a letter to the State Election Commissioner for his immediate intervention in this regard and for the sake of holding free and fair elections. We have also requested him to transfer the Officer-In-Charge of Nandigram. '' At least seven BJP candidates were being intimidated by the CPI(M) hooligans to withdraw their candidature since the day of submitting their nomination, Mr Sinha alleged.
