Mumbai, Apr 18 (UNI) Mega superstar star Amitabh Bachchan here unveiled the 60th anniversary book of ''Chandamama'' comics, the country's oldest children's' literature house that has enthralled generations.
''My personal association with Chandamama goes back to my younger days in Allahabad, and now my grandchildren are also into it,'' said Bachchan at the function held yesterday.
He said the comic played a vital role in promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of India and has entertained and educated generations of the country.
The 196 page anniversary book with a foreword by Padma Sri Professor Manoj Das contains a collage of the comics' history from letter-pressed Black&White pictures to comic covers spanning over half a century.
The title which has witnessed a revival in its circulation of late with up to 4 lakh copies sold in recent months is also reinventing itself with a website containing interactive games, downloads and programmes on Worldspace radio.

Conceptualised by legendary filmmakers B Nagi Reddi and Chakrapani with a vision of familarising post-Independence generations of India's young with India's tradition, folk tales, mythology and history, Chandamama comics were first published in 1947.
