Puducherry, Apr 18: The Puducherry administration would issue Governement Order (G O) for abolishing the entrance examination for admissions to the professional courses in the Union Territory on April 21, Education Minsiter M O H F Shajahan told the Legislative Assembly today.
He was replying to a special mention in this regard tabled by PMC member N Anand.
Mr Anand said a student from the Yanam region had already moved the court, praying to grant a stay on the decision of the government to abolish the entrance examination, and the case is slated for hearing on April 24. By the time the government issue orders the stay order from the court also would be there, he added.
Leader of the opposition A M H Nazeem intervened and said that the government is not showing interest to issue the G O in respect of abolition of entrance examination and on the other hand it is keen to see that someone had obtained a stay. He wondered why the G O was not yet issued when Mr Shajahan had announced the abolishment of entrance examination in the Union Territory at the beginning of the Budget session.
