Hamirpur, Apr 18: A 14-year-old school boy has been kidnapped for ransom from a village in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh last evening, district SP Asif Jalal said today.
Munish, 14, a tenth standard boy, was abducted while he was returning home in Jasai village, about 60 km from here, from his school between 1700 hrs to 1800 hrs last evening, Mr Jalal told UNI here.
He said the family had received a ransom call form the abductors, who seem friendly to the school boy.
Police teams have been dispatched to various locations following the ransom call and the culprits were expected to be arrested by this evening, Mr Jalal added.
Refusing to elaborate, he said this was likely to affect their investigations and alert the culprits who were likely from Uttar Pradesh.
He said a case has been registered and efforts were on to rescue the boy.
