Wipro-Microsoft announce strategic alliance

Bangalore, Apr 17: Microsoft Corporation and Indian IT bellwether Wipro announced the expansion of their strategic alliance and the opening of two Wipro Centers of Excellence to showcase Microsoft technologies at Wipro's facilities in Bangalore and Mysore here today. In a Wipro release issued here today, it was stated that two Wipro Centers of Excellence were opened to showcase Microsoft technologies at its Bangalore and Mysore facilities. The state-of-the-art centers will provide customers with an informative and interactive experience where they can envision and evaluate specific business and industry-based scenario solutions.

According to strategic alliance between Wipro and Microsoft the Wipro centers of excellence will focus on solutions and services on Windows Vista and Microsoft Unified Communications. Dedicated Wipro resources will work to integrate the various business communication tools into a single, inter-enterprise wide solution across multiple devices for e-mail, calendaring, voice and telephony, presence, instant messaging and short messaging services.

Mr Stephen Elop, President, Microsoft Business Division, speaking on the occasion has said that the strategic alliance between two IT services companies will enable their customers to take full advantage of Microsoft's technologies along with Wipro's unique approach to business sytems implementation. "We believe the combination of Microsoft Unified Communications software and Wipro's Industry solutions will redefine the way companies communicate with their customers and within their own organizations" Mr Elop said.

Commenting on the expansion of strategic alliance, Mr Suresh Vaswani, President Global IT services lines, Wipro Technologies, has said that Wipro is one of Microsoft's largest global system integrators and is also a key strategic microsoft alliance in India.

"Our early and deep access to Microsoft's technology portfolio will also enable us to deliver transformational services and solutions on next generation architectures", he said.
