Sell Khadi products at stations, give licence to hawkers: LS
New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) Members of the Lok Sabha today demanded sale of khadi products at railway stations, licences for hawkers and introduction of new trains.
Speaking during the discussion and voting on the Demands for Grants (Railways) for 2008-09, Mr Ratilal Verma (BJP) called for increasing the frequency of trains destined for villages.
Mr S K Kharventhan (Cong) wanted early implementation of the Bangalore-Chennai freight corridor, and introduction of display boards inside coaches giving timings of approaching stations.
Mr Sudhangshu Seal (CPM) said khadi products and those manufactured by self-help groups should be introduced at railways stations. The Government, he said, should also give licences to hawkers and provide refrigeration facilities for transporting vegetables.
Mr Mohan Jena (BJD) said vacant posts for Group B employees should be filled immediately, while Mr Chandrakant Khaire (SS) wanted a passenger train between Mumbai and Nanded.
The debate was inconclusive.
