Chitrakoot, Apr 17 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today visited Majra Bagarha locality of the drought-hit Bundelkhand region and shared lunch of 'puri sabzi' with adivasis.
Clad in his quintessential white kurta-pyjama, Rahul entered the house of a tribal and had lunch of 'puri subzi' brought by an adivasi Sukhviria.
Shortly after the lunch, the Amethi MP accompanied by UP and MP Congress presidents lent an ear to tribals' grievances.
Word got around and people from the neighbouring villages rushed to catch a glimpse of Rahul, who sat at a chaupal and spoke to tribals about the Employment Guarantee Scheme.
He asked whether villagers were getting work under the scheme and were happy with its implementation.
Some villagers even started crying when they were asked about the Centrally sponsored schemes, saying they had not got ration for the last four months and were not getting any benefit of the BPL cards.
For past three days, the Amethi MP is visiting the rural areas of Bundelkhand.
Rahul had been persistently under opposition attack, especially UP Chief Minister Mayawati, since his night stay with a Dalit family of Bundelkhand in January.
