Chandigarh, Apr 17: The entrance test to the BEd course will be held by Punjabi University, Patiala on June one, Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur stated.
Ms Kaur told newspersons here yesterday that this would cover 163 colleges of education affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Panjab University Chandigarh and Punjabi University.
A total number of 20,220 seats in these colleges will be filled up through the entrance test for which counselling will be held in two rounds, between July 8 and August 15 and then from August 15 to September 15.
Eighty five per cent of the seats will be filled out of the applicants belonging to the state and the remaining on all-India basis.
Admission to BA LLB, LLB and BA LLB (Honours) will also be held on the basis of an entrance test to be conducted by Punjabi University at Abohar, Bathinda, Amritsar, Sangrur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Muktsar, Chandigarh and at other places to be notified by the university.
The centres for this test outside the state are, Ambala Cantt, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Pune, Secunderabad and Kolkata.
This entrance test will cover 22 law colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Panjab University and Punjabi University.
The total number of seats for these courses are 3048 seats. The counselling will take place in two phases. The dates of counselling will also be notified by the university.
The Education Minister said the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research had started functioning from Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Chandigarh. The land for the institute had been provided by the state government at knowledge city in Mohali where the institute shall construct its own campus.
She said a premier management institute was also being set-up at Mohali in public-private participation mode.
