Allahabad, Apr 17 (UNI) In a significant decision, the Allahabad High Court quashed the transfer orders of about 1,OOO constables from Civil to Armed Police.
A total of 1,000 constables from Allahabad, Kanpur, Nagar, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur, Lalitpur, Meerut, Agra and Ghaziabad had filed a separate bunch of writ petitions challenging the order, whereby, they had been transferred from Civil to Armed Police.
The HC also held that the Regulation 525 of UP Police Regulations are statutory provisions and police constables who have completed over 10 years of service cannot be transferred from Civil to Armed Police.
Counsel for the petitioners Vijay Gautam urged that they had put in over 10 years of service and as such in view of the Regulation 525 of the UP Police regulations, they cannot be transferred to the Armed Police.
