Kathmandu, April 17: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankhar Mukherjee said here today that India is willing to support the government led by the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoists (CPN-M). He added that discourse on this regard have been held repeatedly with Maoist Chairman Prachanda.
''The former rebels should practise politics in an experienced manner,'' Kantipur quoted the Indian ambassador as saying. Indicating at its youth wing Young Communist League (YCL), Indian Ambassador Mukherjee urged the Maoists to improve its behaviour. Mr Mukherjee opined that the Maoists, who have gained a historical victory, should not miss the opportunity. ''The win in the Constituent Assembly (CA) election right after entering mainstream politics following the decade-long armed conflict is positive,'' he said.
Maoists have led the vote counting in the recently held CA polls. The Maoists have got simple majority in the First Past the Post, however, they won't be able to get majority in the proportionate representation(PR).
Maoists will emerge as the largest party when the vote counting in all the constituencies is completed by next week.
