Cabinet discusses measures to control prices of commodities
Hyderabad, Apr 17 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today discussed various measures to peg the rising prices of essential commodities and cement, and appointed ministerial committees to review the situation.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, decided to appoint two committees to review the situation and ordered them to submit their suggestions within two days.
Briefing newspersons after the meeting, State Information and Public Relations Minister Aanam Ramanarayana Reddy said the state government had appointed a three-member committee, comprising State Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Marketing Minister M Mareppa and Civil Supplies Minister K V Krishna, to review the situation on the prices of pulses, edible oil and vegetables and submit its report within two days.
To review the price situation regarding cement, the government appointed State Finance Minister K Rosaiah, Housing Minister B Satyanarayana and Commercial Taxes Minister K Ramakrishna as members of the second committee and directed them to submit the report within two days, he said.
The government would utilise the provisions of the Essential Commodites Act and also the Essential Services Maintenance Act(ESMA) to take action against the hoarders and black marketers in the state, he said.
