Hyderabad, Apr 17 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today cleared a proposal for Sports Development Fund in line with National Sports Development Fund and another for creation of District, Mandal and Village level sports development funds.
Briefing newspersons here after a cabinet meeting, state Information and Public Relations minister Aanam Ramanarayana Reddy said guidelines for the draft would be sent to all districts, mandals and villages.
Sports authorities would register with the Registrar of Societies and seek exemption under Section 80(G) from the appropriate income tax authority in view of the charitable nature of the fund.
Essentially, public contribution to the sports would be forthcoming at village , Mandal, District and state levels, which could be utilised for the purposes enumerated under objects of the fund, he said.
The contribution could be for development of infrastructure at the appropriate area of jurisdiction and could also be used as per the wishes of the contributor for purchasing equipments for specific purpose or building infrastructure and maintenance of the same, conducting competitions, giving cash awards, sponsoring and assisting excellent sportspersons.
With the objective of universalisation of sports, these instruments would be made available at every level with necessary guidelines to utilise the funds.
