450 deeds and maps to measure land stolen

Basirhat, Apr 17 (UNI) About 450 deeds and maps of Basirhat area in North 24 Parganas district were stolen from the house of a government surveyor at Barajirakpur here.

Police said here today that a complaint has been lodged in this regard by the surveyor.

The deeds and maps were meant for measuring the disputed land in the area.

Police said that the surveyor has filed a complaint saying that four people had earlier threatened him and his family of dire consequences in connection with a dealing of a land at Barajirakpur village on which a primary school existed.

Police ha started investigation to ascertain the motive behind the theft.
