UP govt frames policy for setting up disabled varsity
Lucknow, Apr 16 (UNI)The Uttar Pradesh government has framed a policy to provide higher education to differently abled on the basis of private partnership, fulfilling the norms set by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Under the policy, different categories of disabled would be given higher education according to their need and capabilities. For this, they would also be provided hassle - free atmosphere.
The policy aims to widen ways of social and financial rehabilitation of such people, besides making them self-sufficient and independent.
The university would also provide free education to the physically challenged students. A total of 50 seats under various categories would be reserved for them, while the rest would be reserved for blinds.
An 80-member team led by the chief secretary had been entrusted with the responsibility to select organisations in this regard.
