New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar today pulled out of the tomorrow's Olympic Torch relay here citing groin injury as the reason.
''Sachin has been advised to take rest by Mumbai Indians' team physio A Ijaz,'' sources close to the Indian remier League (IPL) revealed.
However, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has denied receiving any official confirmation from the master blaster.
''IOA has not received any communication from Tendulkar withdrawing from the torch relay. He told me a few days back that he will be arriving in Delhi on April 17 morning.
''I have not received any communication to the contrary, we have to wait and see,'' IOA president Suresh Kalmadi said here today.
The other IOA officials including general secretary Randhir Singh too did not have any information in this regard.
Tendulkar is the latest celebrity to have pulled out of the prestigious Torch Relay. He joins the list which includes National football captain Baichung Bhutia and India's first lady IPS officer Kiran Bedi and actress Soha Ali Khan who have already decided not to be a part of the event.
While Bhutia claimed his support for the Tibetan cause, Bedi said she did not want to run with ''scuffing'' security arrangements.
Yesterday Soha Ali Khan announced her prior reservations as the reason for skipping the Torch Relay.
