Mysore, Apr 16 (UNI) The excise department has constituted special teams and set up 12 control rooms in the district to check the flow of illegal liquor during the assembly elections.
The teams at each police stations would be headed by an executives magistrate and comprise officials from police, excise and other departments.
The teams would keep and eye over manufacturing of illegal liquor, its stocking, transportation, sale or distribution to help check the flow of liquor during the Assembly elections. Authorities have appealed to the public to bring to their notice instances of illegal liquor manufacture or distribution, Deputy Commissioner of Excise Mysore, K Bheemappa said in a release here today.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer P Manivanan said that for the first time in the state the sectoral magistrates would work round the clock to over see the election proceedings in the district.
So far 32 election related cases booked in the district and 36 check posts have been functioning within the district and 20 naka points along the district border areas to prevent infiltration of anti-social elements and to crack down on the possible flow of other materials including illicit liquor, he added.
