Patna, Apr 16 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today stressed the need for creating awareness among the new generation of the contributions made by scientists, particularly from Bihar, during the ancient time.
Releasing the two books written by senior IAS officer Shashi Shekhar Sharma about the contributions of the great scientists during the ancient period, Mr Kumar said there was an urgent need to do away with the practice of eulogising the western contributions.
'' We should feel proud of the contributions of our own scientists instead of praising the achievements of the western world,'' he added.
'' Nalanda University was the seat of learning and wisdom in ancient period when people in most parts of the western world were living the life of sub-humans,'' he said adding the state government was making an attempt to revive the past glory of this marvel centre of education.
Mr Kumar directed Human Resources Development Department secretary Anjani Kumar Singh to take steps for inclusion of the two books written by Mr Sharma in the curriculum of universities.
He appreciated the efforts of bureaucrats in writing books despite their busy schedule.
'' It is really satisfying that bureaucrats find time for writing books. But at the same time i would suggest them to do justice to the work assigned by the government,'' he said and added in a lighter vein that he would get the works done by the bureaucrats even if they made themselves busy in writing books.
