Chennai, Apr 15: The Tamil Nadu Assembly today suspended two members of the main opposition AIADMK for the rest of the ongoing budget session for disrupting the proceedings of the House.

A resolution suspending Tiruttani MLA G Hari and T Nagar MLA V P Kalairajan, was moved by Leader of the House and Finance Minister K Anbazhagan and it was unanimously adopted by the House.

However, none of the AIADMK members were present in the House when the resolution was adopted. Moving the resolution, Mr Anbazhagan said when Chief Minister M Karunanidhi rose to make some remarks on the telephone tapping issue, Mr Kalairajan moved out of his seat and attempted to obstruct his speech.

Mr Hari disrupted the proceedings of the House by stating that the Chief Minister should not be allowed to speak and permission should be given to Deputy leader of the opposition O Panneerselvam to raise the issue.

He said the two members should be suspended under rule 121 (2) of the Assembly till the end of the present session.

After this the resolution was passed by voice vote.
