TN Govt to set up township near Santhome
Chennai, Apr 15 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government will set up a state-of-the-art township at Pattinapakkam near Santhome in the city, Revenue Minister I Periaysamy told the state Assembly today.
Replying to the demand on grants for his department, he said it would be developed using modern technology with the assistance of international players.
The proposed township would be developed after demolishing the existing dilapidated government housing blocks.
He said the Tamil Nadu Housing Board had already taken steps to implement the Pattinappakkam township project and identified alternate housing arrangements for people residing in the existing government housing blocks.
This apart, the government has decided to demolish worn-out government housing units and construct 9,692 houses in Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore at an estimated cost of Rs 263.77 crore.
