Fresh summons issued for Aamir in copyright case
New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) A local court today issued a fresh summons for Bollywood actor Aamir Khan to appear before it as a witness in a seven-year-old copyright case .
Metropolitan Magistrate Jagdish Kumar issued the summons.
The court had earlier issued a summons to Aamir Khan to appear before it on April 14 but the day being declared as a holiday due to Ambedkar Jayanti, the matter was taken up today and the fresh summons was issued as the actor was not present .
The case was related to the seizure of 34 VCDs of the film 'Gadar' and seven VCDs of the film 'Lagaan' in a raid conducted by Delhi Police at Lajpat Rai market on June 22, 2001 on the complaint of one Anil Malhotra.
The film 'Lagaan' was produced under the banner m/s Aamir Productions pvt ltd. Aamir Khan being the director of the company was named as a witness.
Police filed an FIR against Chawla, the shopowner from where the VCDs were seized, under section 63 of the Copyright Act.
The court directed Aamir to appear before it on February 10 next year.
