Chennai's son-in-law Murali says he is a Proud Super King

By Staff

Chennai, Apr 15 (UNI) Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan today said he was 'proud' to play for Chennai Super Kings team in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) as the son-in-law of Tamil Nadu.

''My ancestors hail from Tamil Nadu and my wife is from Chennai.

That way it is a privilege for me to be playing for a team from this place,'' the world's leading wicket taker in Test matches said addressing a press conference at the M A Chidambaram stadium here this morning.

Muralitharan said he was raring to go and considered the Super Kings team, which has former India captain K Srikkanth as the brand ambassador, as one of the best in the competition.

''In fact all the teams are strong but Super Kings is great,'' he said.

Asked what he thought of the captain of the Super Kings team M S Dhoni, he said ''Dhoni has been lucky winning everything so far.

I hope he will win the League also.'' Answering questions on what role a spinner could have in Twenty20 form of the game when a bowler gets to bowl just four overs in a match, Muralitharan, whose bowling action had come in for controversy often in his splendid career, said '' in fact, on Indian wickets, he has even a bigger role to play.'' Pitches in India help the spinners and more so the wicket at M A Chidambaram stadium , he pointed out.
