Andaman police panicked over increased attacks on them
Port Blair, Apr 15 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar Islands police is worried over the increased and repeated attacks on them by the miscreants.
Andaman Superintendent of Police Ashok Chand told UNI here today that in the past one month more than four such incidents were reported from the capital town of the union territory.
On April 11, a police constable, on duty, was murdered by oil smugglers whereas some miscreants knocked down another officer following an alercation.
However, the miscreanst were later arrested.
Meanwhile, the island's police have erected barricades all around the city to check movements of law-breakers and offenders.
''We are taking strict action against those who are attacking policeman and also intensifying police patrolling inside the city,'' Mr Chand said.
However, the islanders have blamed the police for such incidents.
