New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) At least two people, including a police official, were hurt today when a group of Tibetans tried to take out a parallel 'torch relay' near Rajpath.
Wearing yellow head bands and jackets, a group of 35 Tibetans tried to take out their version of the much-hyped Olympic torch relay on the very route where the Olympic torch would traverse on April 17 amid a massive security bandobast.
They were protestintng the genocide by China and asked the world community to unite against the crackdown on unarmed, innocent protestors in the Himalayan region.
While police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said they were holding a protest, eye-witnesses said the refugees took out a torch relay.
''Twenty-seven Tibetans have been detained,'' the spokesperson said adding that he was not aware about the injuries on SHO, Tilak Marg.
Those detained included five women. The protestors and police nearly clashed when the latter tried to douse the flame.
