Haryana to allot plots to SC and BPL families
Panchkula, Apr 14 (UNI) The Haryana Government has identified land in 5,000 villages to allot plots of 100 sq yards free of cost to members belonging to Scheduled Castes and those living below the poverty line.
This was stated by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda while speaking at a function organised here by Bharat Ratna Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Mahasabha to mark 117th birthday of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
The Chief Minister said that in those villages where land would not be available to allot the plots, it would be acquired for the same purpose and basic facilities like streets with drainage, drinking water and power supply would be provided in such colonies.
Mr Hooda said that under the state government's scheme to appoint 11,000 Safai Karamcharis in rural areas of the state about 6,000 of them had already been appointed and the remaining would be appointed within a month.
The Chief Minister said the state government had been speedily clearing the backlog of vacancies of Scheduled Castes and assured that the entire backlog would be cleared.
