Govt projects to revive football

Kannur, Apr 14(UNI) The Kerala government is implementing a project, aimed at attracting the new generation of youth to football and giving them excellent training into it, Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthandan said today.

Inaugurating the second E K Nayanar Football tournament here, he said the project, ''Vision India'', had already been implemented at eight schools in seven districts.

Within two years it would be implemented in all districts, he announced.

The government would set up a football academy in Malappuram.

A volleyball academy would also be estalished in Kozhikode, he added.

Pointing out that lack of sufficient stadiums was one of main reasons for lack of sports development in the state, he said by 2010, the state government would fill this void in every panchayat.
