By Staff

Kanpur, Apr 13 : A splendid performance by the Indian bowlers at the Green Park in Kanpur and startling knocks by Virendra Sehwag helped Team India in wining the third and final test match against South Africa.

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly was adjudged the man of the match, while off spinner Harbhajan Singh was awarded the man of the series.

Opener Wasim Jaffer was out at 0, Sehwag made 22 runs in just 12 balls, Ganguly and Rahul Dravid were unbeaten at 13 and 18 respectively.

Earlier in the day, Team India bowled out the South African team at the score of 121.

Harbhajan Singh took four wickets, Virender Sehwag three, Ishant Sharma took two and Sreesanth took one wicket to bundle out Proteas at just 121.

After losing second test at Ahmedabad and the first test match at Chennai ending in a draw, victory at the Green Park helped India in levelling the series 1-1.

India began the day with only a very slender advantage - 23 in front and one wicket in hand - but until last wicket fell, the Indian team managed to take 60-run lead over Proteas, as Sreesanth and Ishant put together the second-highest last wicket stand for India against them.

On Day 2, India took a slender lead of 23 runs ensuring that the tourists remained in the hunt after getting bundled out for 265 on the first day.
