Hooda announces interest waiver on outstanding passenger tax

Ambala, Apr 13 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced a bonanza of concessions for the Cooperative Transport Societies which includes waiver of interest on the outstanding amount of passenger tax and cooperative loans taken by such societies.

He also announced that the State Government was formulating a new Transport Policy.

The Chief Minister, who was addressing a state level function of the Cooperative Transport Societies, organised by Haryana Cooperative Transport Society Welfare Association at Barara village in the district, said the interest on the outstanding amount of passenger tax would be waived off if the outstanding amount of the passenger tax was deposited by the societies within one month.

Similarly, interest on the cooperative loans would also be waived off if the entire principal amount was deposited by the societies within two months.

Mr Hooda said the new Transport Policy would fully protect the interests of the cooperative transport societies and provide better transport services to the people in the state.

He regretted that some of the transport operators had not taken benefits of the concessions announced by him in a function organised by the Haryana Transport Cooperative Society Welfare Association at Kaithal.

He said the cooperative transport societies had played a significant role in making Haryana transport services one of the best state transport services in the country.

He said concerted efforts were being made to strengthen Haryana Roadways and provide better transport services to the people of the state.

He pointed out that 1000 additional new buses including CNG and AC buses were being added to the bus fleet of Haryana Roadways besides replacing the seven year old buses with the new ones.

Haryana Udai, CNG bus service had been introduced in the towns and cities of Haryana falling in NCR and in many areas of Delhi.

Another modern bus service named ''Haryana Gaurav'' which was called ''Aam Aadmi ki Khaas Bus'' had also been introduced in the State.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of two bridges over river Sahzadpur, one each at village Kaurwa Kalan and Behloli. These bridges will be constructed at a cost of Rs 4.37 crore.

He also unveiled the statue of late Prime Minister, Mr Rajiv Gandhi at Saha and laid the foundation stone of Dr Ambadkar Bhawan at village Sirasgarh, besides unveiling his statue at village Dosarka.
