Five killed in two separate road accidents in HP
Shimla, Apr 13 (UNI) At least five people, including a three-year- old boy, were killed in two separate road accidents in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh today, police said.
Four people were killed after their car, they were travelling in, fell into a gorge at Dutt Nagar in Rampur town, about 132 km from here, of the district.
The police said the accident, which probably occurred late last night, only came to light early morning today, following which the bodies were retrieved from the badly mangled vehicle by local people and police personnel.
The dead have been identified as Ved Raj (37) Chand Singh, (38) Hoshiar Singh and Kamlesh, it said.
The police further said the District Administration has announced a cash relief to the next of the kin of the dead in the accident.
The cause of the accident was, however, not immediately known.
A case has been registered and investigations are on.
In yet another accident, a three-year old boy was run over by a speeding Mahindra pick up at the famous tourist resort of Mashobra, about eight km from here, early morning today.
The police said the driver of the vehicle sped away from the scene of the accident and efforts were on to arrest him.
The dead has been identified as Ankit, it said, adding that a case has been registered under sections 279 and 304 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigations are on.
