English daily to be launched in Dubai
Dubai, Apr 13: 'The National', UAE's latest English daily is to hit the stands on Thursday. The daily which is Abu Dhabi's second English language daily, besides ''Emirates News'' which closed down a few years ago, he will go on sale across the UAE at a price yet to be disclosed, said its owner, the Abu Dhabi Media Company(ADMC).
The broadshett newspaper will have 80 pages of news, business, arts and culuture and sport. It said an online varion of the newspaper would also be available at www.thenational.ae. ''The role of The National is to reflect socieity, help that socieity evolve and, perhaps most importantly, promote the bedrock traditions and virtues that must be preserved even in time of change and that is why we have called our paper The National,'' Editor-in-Chief Martin Newland said in a statement.
ADMC has still to reveal the cover price, although Newland said last month it would not be a ''market diffgerentiator''. Gulf News charges 3 dirhams (82 cents), while Emirates Business 24/7 and Khaleej Times both charge 2 dirhams, the Arabianbusiness.com said.
