Delhi-bound AI flight suffers inordinate delay
Chennai, Apr 13 (UNI) As many as 116 passengers of the Chennai-Delhi Air India aircraft faced a lot of hardship as the flight suffered a delay of over ten hours, here.
Airport sources said the flight, scheduled to leave at 2000 hrs from the Kamaraj domestic terminal here yesterday, was delayed as the flight from Delhi also suffered a delay and landed here only at 2115 hrs instead of the scheduled 1915 hrs.
Their woes were compounded when the pilot refused to fly back to Delhi as per the rules, stating that his duty hours were over. As Air India could not arrange an alternate pilot, the flight was cancelled and some of the passengers accommodated in city hotels.
Finally, the aircraft left for Delhi at 0640 hrs today with another pilot.
