Patiala, Apr 12 (UNI) The executive director of the National Institute of Sports (NIS) Laxman Singh Ranawat, has constituted a two-member monitoring committee to unearth sports talent in the north, mainly in Punjab.

The committee, comprising two senior NIS coaches, Dr Bhupinder Singh Dhillon and Nirbhey Singh, would ensure that the exercise under SAI's STC scheme is result-oriented and fructifying.

Trials to select young boys and girls in the age group of 13 to 19 years are slated for April 15 to 17 in the sports disciplines of boxing, cycling, fencing, gymnastics, handball, judo, shooting, wushu and hockey here at the NIS/Polo ground.

The scheme provides excellent facilities and is a bonanza for young sportspersons like, free board and lodging, free sports kit, competition exposure expenses, education expenses, medical expenses, insurance cover, equipment and so forth.
