Preity Zinta, Brett Lee launch sale of tickets in Mohali

Mohali, Apr 12 (UNI) Bollywood star and co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, Preity Zinta, today launched sale of tickets for the 'home matches' of the Indian Premier League at the PCA Stadium, amidst carnival.

She, along with Brett Lee, sold autographed tickets at the makeshift sale counter on the tennis courts of the PCA amidst fanfare.

As many as 1500 tickets, including 1200 signed by Preity and Australian speed star Lee, were sold on day one. According to organisers 300 tickets were sold through online.

Addressing a press conference, Preity Zinta said response to purchase tickets was very good. ''Even ladies in large number have turned up to purchase tickets. I have never watched a test match.

But the 20-20 version is more accessible to the general public.

Three-hour entertainment is attracting families,'' she said.

''Brett Lee and I are happy to be among the people of Punjab to sell tickets for our home matches to cheer Kings XI Punjab which will be led by icon Yuvraj Singh. Tom Mood is coach,'' said Preity.

She was confident that Kings XI Punjab would win the inaugural eight-team Indian Premier League.

Australian speed star Brett Lee said, ''it will be great to share the new balls with Sreesanth and Irfan Pathan. Our efforts would be to win the trophy. I am enjoying 20-20 version of cricket. I love Indian culture and people.'' Tom Moody have high expectation from the team which is heady mix of leading national and international players.

Punjab Cricket Association president Inderjit Singh Bindra assured that all facilities would be ready before the IPL. ''The response from the spectators is overwhelming,'' he said.

Meanwhile, the Kings XI Punjab team members have reported for coaching camp. The first day was devoted for fitness tests.

The team comprises Yuvraj Singh, Brett Lee, Irfan Pathan, Sreesanth, Piyush Chawla, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jaywardane, Romesh Power, James Jopes, VRV Singh, Kyle Mills, Luke Pomersvack, Uday Kaul, Yash Gandhi, Tanmay Srivastava, Karan Goel,Ajitesh Agral, Simon Katach, Sunny Sohal, Pankaj Dharmani, Sahil Kukreja and Wilken Mota.
