Passengers stranded due to oil wagen derailment

Ambala, Apr 12 (UNI) The passengers continued to remain stranded at Ambala Cantonment Railway Station today as 14 trains were running late due to blocking of Up and Down rail track on Delhi-Amritsar line following derailment of oil wagons of a goods train yesterday.

Although the Railways had restored the rail traffic after about nine hours yesterday, yet many trains ran late today, with some of them arriving as much as eight hours behind schedule.

Meanwhile, the authorities stated that the running of trains would be normalised within 24 hours.

The passengers who were to catch trains of longer distance, remained stranded and complained of many inconveniences saying the authorities had not made adequate arrangements and the children with them were worst affected. Many passengers were forced to cut their journey short and got their reservation cancelled.

The Railway authorities circulated a note giving detail of 14 express and other trains which had reached here late.

The trains which were late by 4 to 8 hours included Amarpali 5707, 5654 and Jan Sewa 4217. Rest of the 11 trains were late by 1 hour to 3 hours.

They claimed that necessary arrangements were made for the passengers who were stranded on the station.
