Maoists leader says party would work with India and China
Kathmandu, April 12 (UNI) Maoists Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachand, who won Constituency No 10 election here, said his party would work closely with the Seven Party Alliance and the international community including India.
''We will work together with not only the Seven Party Alliance but also the new parties that will be established through this election and the old parties in existence in the forthcoming constitution making process,'' he said, addressing the rally in Kathmandu following his victory in the election.
''All eyes are upon us. This is a positive challenge for us. I want to clarify that the path of cooperation that we adopted since 12-point agreement will continue,'' he said.
Referring to Nepal's neighbouring nations, Mr Prachand said to the local media, ''For the international community and especially our neighbours, India and China, I want to say that our party wants good relations with all of them and is willing to work together on development, cooperation and peace process.
Our commitment on multi-party democracy has been expressed through this election as well,'' he added.
''I have taken this victory as the people's mandate to us to consolidate lasting peace. We will remain honest to that mandate,'' he said.
Maoists have won 26 seats out of 42 seats result declared. Nepali Congress and CPN, UML are trailing behind with seven and six seats respectively.
