Improve memory by eating blueberries
London, Apr 12 (UNI) Worried about memory loss? Eat a couple of portions of blueberries daily to reverse it, research said.
Researchers believe the secret may lie in the fruit's high levels of antioxidants-- flavanoids-- which help fight disease and stimulate regeneration within brain cells.
Volunteers who ate 300g of blueberries a day, on top of their normal diet, reported improvements in memory within three weeks, according to the study.
Dr Matt Whiteman of Peninsula Medical School, Exeter, said the same results could be achieved by replacing half the amount of blueberries with other flavonoid-rich foods such as apples, aubergines and blackberries.
