Ahmedabad, Apr 12 (UNI) The Golden Chariot, a royal luxury train developed on the lines of Palace on Wheels by the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC), has successfully completed its second commercial run and is now on its third outing with tourists from around the world.

The train was flagged off on February 2, 2008 by President Pratibha Patil.

Kannada Culture, Information and Tourism Secretary and KSTDC Chairman I M Vittala Murthy told mediapersons here last night that the Golden Chariot has been a resounding success with travellers singing praises for it.

''The Golden Chariot started its trial run from Bangalore on February 2, 2008 and has covered Mysore, Kabini, Hassan, Belur, Sravanbelagola, Hampi, Aihole, Pattadakal, Badami and Goa,'' Mr Murthy said.

''We are happy to announce that the golden chariot is running successfully. It is one more feather in India's cap as it is for Karnataka. It will add on to the already existing charm and culturally rich tourist attractions in the country,'' he said.

''The booking has already started and we have got good confirmations. In more ways than one, the Golden Chariot is another big step in making tourism a major revenue earner for the state and the country. It will also ensure that there is increase in business opportunities and employment,'' the KSTDC Chairman said.
