Hyderabad, Apr 12: Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) President Sunil Bharti Mittal today announced the appointment of Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, currently the Deputy Director General, as the next Director General of the Confederation from May.
CII assessed both external and internal candidates for the post and found Mr Banerjee as the most suitable. During his 20-year stint in the CII, he has managed several affiliated Industry associations, including the Indian Earthmoving Construction Association and the Tractor Manufacturers' Association (TMA), a press release here said.
Mr Banerjee has served CII in various locations as the Head of State and Regional Offices of CII in Kolkata, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Chandigarh, Mumbai and Bangalore.
Expressing confidence in Mr Banerjee's ability to lead CII into the future, Mr Mittal said, ''he is young, dynamic, energetic and will lead CII well.'' ''I am overwhelmed with the trust of CII in me. These are the best of times in India and, yet, the most challenging. I shall work with the outstanding team in CII to support India's high growth and inclusive development,'' Mr Banerjee added.
