NEDFi to promote export of organic products
Agartala, Apr 11 (UNI) The Northeast Development Finance(NEDFi), the leading financial support institution, has taken initiative to export organic farming products and promote natural cultivation in the NE.
NEDFi officials said here today that as part of the mission, it had recently brought a group of entrepreneurs from neghibouring countries in the region and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Asia Strategy Forum (ASF), Thailand, and former Director General of the Asian Development Bank Noritada Morita was also part of the team.
''The NE has sufficient water resources and sunshine throughout the year and the quality of soil here is also good, which are the basic requirements for organic farming while there are many cities within the easy reach of this region to explore the business potential,'' officials said.
They stated that the ASF had taken up an ambitious project to link all major areas in the greater Mekong sub-region by a network of good roads within the year 2015 and India too would be connected with the region through Myanmar, which would open business opportunities for the region and the cooperation initiative could begin in villages along the international borders.
''If a particular village has clean drinking water, it could share its resources with another village across the border, which does not have clean water. Similarly, if another village on the other side of the border has surplus electricity, it could divert some to a village on this side, which is in need of power supply,'' the officials added.
