Hyderabad, Apr 11 (UNI) Last Mughal emperior Bahadur Shah's Great Grandson Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy has threatened to file a defamation suit against the producer and director of 'Jodha Akbar' for depicting Jodha Bai as lover and wife of Akbar and ''tarnishing the image of the Great Mughal emperor and the Mughal dynasty.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday, the prince said the cinematic depiction that Akbar was in ''love with Jodha Bai and married her to father Prince Saleem, who has ascended the thrown as Emperor Jahangir is nothing but intentional and deliberate distortion of historical facts and character assassination of Akber the great and wanton defamation of the Mughal dynasty.'' The film makers should have termed it as a fiction and cinematic version of a love story and disclaimed that it was a historical film, he maintained.

He said as a descendent of the Mughal dynasty, he had already filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court being aggreived by the ''character assassination'' of the great Mughal emperor and praying for a direction for substituting historical names with fictitious names. The matter is pending before the Apex court.

The Rajasthan Association had also approached the Apex Court questioning the depiction of Jodha Bai as wife of Akber.
