MES demands reservation in aided educational institutions
Kozhikode, Apr 11 (UNI) The Muslim Education Society (MES) in Kerala today urged the State Government to earmark 27 per cent reservation for minorities in the aided educational institutions in line with the Supreme Court verdict on the issue.
Speaking to newspersons here, MES State President Fazal Ghafoor said such a step would go a long way to uplift the students hailing from this section of the society.
Hundreds of students would be benefited if a favourable decision was taken by the government as many educational institutions in the state were functioning in the aided sector, he said.
Welcoming the apex court verdict yesterday, upholding 27 per cent quota to OBCs in higher educational institutions in the country, he said the credit goes to the UPA government, particularly to Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh for initiating steps towards the ''historic'' verdict.
