Kuala Lumpur, Apr 11 : The residents of Sentul, a main town area in Kuala Lumpur, are unhappy with an open-air crematorium near a Hindu temple.

The residents blame the crematorium for persisting environmental problems in the area.

A resident said that they had complained several times to the operator of the crematorium and hope that the authorities would look into the matter.

The operator told The Star online that his family had been operating the crematorium since 1983.

"People believe that the cremation near the Hindu temple is auspicious. Besides, some people still prefer to use wood for cremation," said the operator

He further said that the crematorium is open from 7am to 7pm and RM250 is charged for every cremation.

The operator also claimed to possess a permit to operate the crematorium.
