Mumbai, Apr 11 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Jairaj Phatak today said the corporation has been providing flavoured milk to the students of the civic-run schools after the restart of the milk distribution scheme.
The Corporation has distributed 13,93,758 bottles of flavoured milk among school students in April, he informed.
It may be recalled that 39 students had fallen ill a few weeks after the launch of the highly-publicised scheme, forcing the Corporation to discontinue it. The students, after drinking the strawberry flavoured milk, had started vomitting and complained of stomach ache and dizziness.
The scheme was restarted after a series of clinical tests and debates in the Standing Committee, which later passed the proposal to continue with the milk distribution scheme.
