Chandigarh, Apr 10: Six MW Biomass Power Project at a cost of about Rs 27 crore will be set up in Palwal block of Faridabad district.

An MoU to this effect has been signed by Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) Director Sumita Misra and True Electrics and Transmission Pvt Ltd Managing Director Pradeep Anand.

While disclosing this here today, Ms Misra said that the project would be constructed by the firm on Built, Operate and Own (BOO) basis.

The power from this project would be fed to the state grid for which the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) had already fixed a tariff of Rs 4 per kwh, she said.

She informed that HAREDA had already signed MOU with 5 independent power producers in February, 2007 for setting up of Biomass Power Projects in the state. So far, 14 Detailed Project Reports of 127 MW had already been approved and the independent power producers were in process of signing the power purchase agreements with the concerned power utilities and other statutory clearances from the various departments were being obtained.

She said that in case of Wind Power Projects for which HAREDA had signed MOU with Enercon India and Suzlon Energy Ltd, the wind monitoring station had already been set up and wind velocity data was being assessed.

The firms would submit the Detailed Project Reports based on this data to HAREDA for setting up of Wind Power Projects in the state, she added.

Ms Misra also informed that HAREDA had also received overwhelming response from the independent power producers for setting up of solar energy based power projects.
