'Rathotsavam' celebrated at Lord Ram temple
Tirupati, Apr 10 (UNI) 'Rathotsavam', pulling of the temple chariot, was celebrated on the penultimate day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavam at Lord Kondandarama Swamy temple here, this morning.
The bejewelled processional deity of Lord Rama, along with his consort Sita and brother Lakshmana, was placed on the colourfully decorated wooden car and pulled through the four mada streets of the temple.
Hundreds of devotees pulled the chariot amid chanting of 'Sri Rama' mantra. Kolattams and bhajans were also performed by them.
In the evening, after Unjal Seva at unjal mandapam on the temple premises, the processional deity would be taken on 'Aswa' (horse) vahanam through the four mada streets.
Tomorrow, the concluding day of the Brahmotsavam, 'chakrasnanam' (Lord's disc dipped in holy water) would be performed at 'pushkarini (temple tank).
