Harda, MP, Apr 10 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Narayan Sami today alleged that the Madhya Pradesh Government had failed to utilise central funds completely.
''The Centre had provided Rs 12,000 crore to the state government but Rs 2,180 crore lapsed due to non-utilisation by March 31,'' Mr Sami told reporters here.
The debt burden of the government has increased from Rs 35,000 crore to Rs 52,000 crore since the BJP came to power four years back.
Madhya Pradesh has slipped from eighth position to 15th position in terms of industrial investment.
Mr Sami said the BJP Government had failed to provide adequate power to farmers. Despite severe crisis, the government sold power worth Rs 172 crore to other states.
State Congress President Suresh Pachouri said the BJP wants to win the Betul Lok Sabha bypoll by money and muscle.
Training guns on the Chief Minister, he said an impartial inquiry cannot be expected in the much-debated dumpers' case against him, as officials subordinate to him were investigating the case.
Mr Pachouri and Mr Sami had arrived here to campaign for the Betul bypoll. Opposition Leader Jamnu Devi accompanied them.
