Dehri On Sone, Apr 10 (UNI) Maoist ultras gunned down six associates in the forests of Kaimur hills under Rohtas police station area for betraying and abandoning the banned outfit, Police Superintendent G.S.Gangwar said here today.
He said they were killed in Rohtas district last night. All the bodies were recovered near the Holibaghauti river this morning.
He said the victims belonged to Gaya district.
''Following an invitation, the victim extremists had arrived at the forests and in course of the meeting they were shot dead,'' he said.
The district's borders had been sealed and the Special Task Force had launched a manhunt for the killers.
The administration of the adjoining states, including Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, had been asked to launch raids in their jurisdiction as the Maoists might have slipped there after committing the crime.
